Figi's

Every Christmas, my Aunt Mary Lou in Colorado sends me one of these Figi's samplers.  Takes me back to the time when I got one right after I broke my leg.  It was great comfort food.  64,77,35,0,C

Looks delicious. How nice John. I used to get those wonderful things too when my family was still alive. Enjoy your family while you can. Even though I had the usual (or not usual) family problems, I certainly miss them now. And other people say that too. It's funny how things they said come back to me. (Then I might find myself wanting to talk to them like my mother did). Gone is forever in this world.

That brings back memories of my Dad when he'd pick up something like that at K-Mart. Good stuff!

We gave out similar for Christmas gifts this year. We ended up going with the Swiss Colony stuff. So far no complaints.

My daughter bought me as a Christmas present - a similar sampler from the Klien Grocery Store in Tomball, Texas. The Klien Store was founded in 1923 by A.B. Klien . My father went to work for Mr. Klien in 1948 to run the Klien Funeral Home - also owned by A.B. Klien. My father had recently graduated from studying embalming & funeral directing at the Landig College of Moturary Science in Houston, Texas. My very first paying job was working in the Klien store - stocking the grocery shelfs with more groceries. Back in 1950 - that work paid 50 cents per hour. But the cost to go to a movie was only 15 cents & you could get a bag of popcorn for 10 cents.
