The twisted logic of atheists...

It's funny how non-believers will latch on to something like this because they refuse to accept the idea of eternal punishment.  It is also funny how often they latch on to something the Pope says and twist it around.   The Pope did not in fact "reveal the answer", and is well aware of the concept of Heaven and hell.  I think he handled this the only way he could and was just being diplomatic because it was a child in a very public forum.  But being the greatest guy in the world doesn't gain you much credit in the afterlife without having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior - and splashing your children with water doesn't do anything for them or you.  That is the problem with the Catholic religion...they offer blessings and atonement at the hands of mere men when only God can grant such favors through the death of his only Son.  I suspect that if the Pope was dealing with an adult in a private situation, he would suggest the following scriptures:  Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.  Mathew 10: 33   But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Yes of course the boy will see his father again someday. God knows a persons every thought and what a man holds dear in his heart and God would know about the goodness of the little boys father. I'm sure the Pope told told this to the little boy and that his father would be fine in the afterlife and looking down to make sure his son was o.k. and that his father and his Heavenly Father love him. Just like George Bush, I know that my parents are at peace now.

If I were the Pope , I'd simply answer, "Don't worry , kid, did you miss your Dad before you were born? Same difference. Just as it didn't bother you then (before being born), same-same it won't bother you in the future (after death)."

There's too much focus in the after Life, when the best comparison is simply the pre Life. Makes sense? Before Life is same-same with After Life, IMHO. So don't sweat it.

Spoken like a true atheist. Too much focus in the after life? That is what it all boils down to. This life on earth is but a mere blip when it comes to eternity. How one chooses to spend eternity is an option that too many people simply ignore when they deny The Holy Spirit. The sad thing is, these same people think that Jesus Christ is just a mythical belief when it fact He is very real once you open yourself to Him. Those who chose to ignore the gift are in for a very long regret.

All Christian share the same God and Jesus yet the other guys way is wrong. How is that possible when they all lead to the same destination.

I'm not an atheist, John.

I'm Christian, but I also don't think telling a kid, "No , you'll never see your Dad ever again, because he was an atheist" is all together kinder , IMHO. So the middle ground for me, is to tell the kid the truth, ie. "Just as you had no conception of pre-Life, you too will not have pre-conception of post-Life". That to me is the closes answer to the truth, and a kinder answer . And I think as far as this life is concerned being Kind was sort of the whole point of the Gospels, no?

p.s.--- Jesus never described eternal life. Will our understanding of a nuclear or extended family be the same post-Life? But that' s another topic, I'm just pointing out that there's a kinder, nicer, truthful answer, is all, John. wouldn't you agree?
