John Wells said...: The old tin I got for free didn't have enough "character" on its own so I decided to paint it. Even with all the prep and paint - still saved my client over $200 vs the cost of new corrugated tin (and I think this looks better). Scrubbed all the pieces with soap and water then wiped them all down with white vinegar to give them a slight acid etch to help the paint stick - much less toxic than using muriatic acid. I am using Rustoleum Hammered Finish Silver Paint purchased in quart size cans ($12.98) thinned with xylol (3/4 pint xylol per quart of paint) for my airless sprayer. Much cheaper than using their spray paint version. One gallon easily covered 300 sq ft.
