Two masters...

Two master patterns to cast from this weekend.  The pattern making takes a lot longer than the actual casting.  After 3D printing, they get about 10 coats of primer over several days to soften the edges of the pattern so they will release from the casting sand and leave good impressions.  It's always important to leave a good impression... 61,68,41,0,W

And crisp it is. Are you going to put it in the dirt? I remember a long time ago my father showing me the surveyor's....um. I don't know what to call it. It was metal and in the ground and was probably several inches thick, and I think it had the coordinates on it. But don't quote me. I was a kid. And that was a while back.

They are known as survey markers. Some people make a hobby out of trying to find them to photograph. Hopefully I can sell some sets of these to landowners out here.

Really nice! Casting is something I've been interested in for awhile now. I can weld and do a little fabrication now and again for work and personal projects but casting has always fascinated me. Need to take the leap.

I would think surveying companies from all over would be interested in your markers...

Guy Hodges...actually, there are plenty of companies out there that do custom survey markers.
