Just ordered today. Long range transmitter for both telemetry and RC signal. I also ordered a different RC transmitter to work with this system. It's actually quite brilliant in that the unit that mounts on the RC transmitter connects with the ground station software on my laptop via Wi-Fi. This will allow me to view mission progress in real time and control mission parameters via the ground station and manual control if needed via the RC transmitter - all from up to 40 kilometers away. That extreme distance is advertised for airborne vehicles with direct line of sight so I expect the performance for my land-based rover will be considerably less. That test will be an upcoming video. 83,89,65,0,C

Ok, tho
On top of the end or beginning of driveway markers could be good spot for WIFI antenna to increase Line of Sight.
The telemetry radio on the RC controller end only uses wifi to connect to the ground station.
Maybe it would be the telemetry radio antenna. The LOS to horizon will increase the higher up antenna is placed. For example, radars on ships are higher on superstructure to increase distance to horizon. Another possible way would be mount the antenna on the rover as high as possible. However, the TFL antenna would be easiest to get the highest.
Once I receive the equipment, I will see what kind of range I can get with the RC controller/ground station antennas mounted on a tall mast at TFL. I expect to be able to get all the way to the hill before the highway. One of the features of the RFD900x is that multiple units can be used as a mesh network so if needed, I may buy another to put one on top of that hill to extend the range beyond line of sight to the mailboxes. It could easily be run off a 12V 5Ah battery that would be charged with a small solar panel - set up with a timer to only power on for specific times.
