YouTube Millions!

So just about a month ago I decided to monetize my 10 year old YouTube channel.  Although it means people have to put up with ads, it doesn't cost them a dime to watch the videos.  As you can see from the top photo, I am not exactly getting rich. (I earn about one dollar per 1,000 views.)  As you see from the second photo - the most viewed user on YouTube is making an absolute killing.  After doing extensive research, I found the secret is not to count on the money pouring in...but to just concentrate on regularly uploading quality content that people will find interesting.  "If you film it, they will watch?"  I think I have plenty of good ideas for weekly "friday night films" that will fill up the year and provide some new Field Lab entertainment for people that follow my blog, and the end goal is to ultimately garner enough new interest in my project here that it may eventually lead to some modest income way down the road.  This is not about being an "attention whore"...I have already tried that and I didn't find it very satisfying (over the years I have turned down at least 10 reality TV shows and a lot of money).  I prefer being in total control of all the content released from TFL.  I enjoy living "outside the box" and after over 9 years of blogging, I have refined my ability to report on my daily doings and bumping up my YouTube game is a natural progression.  Hopefully this will provide a different perspective and some additional insight into the Field Lab world that people will enjoy. 58,67,27,0,B

I do beach video's on North Padre Island. After growing up in West Texas. I am naturally attracted to water:) I decided to do the video's of the beaches and other attractions in my area after talking to too many lost tourist's and too many tourist's that have been lied to by our chamber of commerce in order to funnel money into certain tourist trap's like 'North Beach' on Corpus Christi bay. I decided to do this YouTube channel. On Monday through Thursdays we have beaches down that are almost deserted and other places that are calm and peaceful like 'Mustang Island State Park' and Saint Joe's Island across from Port Aransas.

I read your blog through feedly. If I watch the video there without going to your blog page, or Youtube, does it still count towards your viewer numbers?

I'd enjoy a video walking tour of your place; generally video adds some context that stills do not.

Coffeeinjection, glad to know you do the beach videos. The beaches are very popular for the people in the San Antonio area. I briefly visited Corpus Christi in years past. Beautiful city. (Because it always had to be rebuilt after the long ago Tornadoes). But I was told about the mosquitoes and drugs in certain areas there (like anywhere) so I did not camp with my dogs over there. (I went along the border near John. Now how smart if that?😝)

I thought I typed is - not if- oh well, no big deal. Progress not perfection.

Nicki...There is a lot of conflicting information online about what views are counted and I have been going back and forth with YouTube support trying to get a definitive answer. Finally got to the bottom of it. Apparently all views are counted no matter where the video is seen as long as it has to be clicked on to play. AutoPlay views are not counted (like some videos you see on Facebook that start to play as soon as they appear while scrolling through your news feed).

gregg...I will add a walking tour to the list - great idea! Of course this means I will have to clean up a little...

Looking forward to the walking tour. I enjoyed the ride around the block you did earlier too.

Well my new truck is going to be in the shop another 2 weeks waiting for parts. That rodent did a number on the Ford and then escaped.

Hello John Wells,
I have also done the same thing. I have monetise my old channel and then I uploaded the videos on the same topics I got good views and subscribers within 1 month.
To increase more channel subscribers I have bought youtube subscribers from here. This is the best way to increase more audience and getting more views & subscribers on videos.
