new test

Going to try to cast this pewter replica coin from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie in bronze and acid etch a QR code onto the back of it.  Will it be scannable?  83,90,71,0,B

That was a cool coin (& movie).

It will work.

I think it depends on what you want the QR code to resolve to. More data is a more complex pattern and would get more difficult for you as you go. But I’ve seen mosaic tile codes that work so I think yours probably will. Neat project

Is there any significance to using that particular coin?

Brian...I am toying with the idea of creating an elaborate treasure hunt using these coins with specific markings on them as clues (such as the QR code test I am doing). They seemed appropriate since they were treasure coins in the movie. Not sure yet what or where the ultimate treasure will be. I got these replicas from Amazon. $4.23 for 6 of them - from China. It took a month for them to get here.

Yes it’s scannable.

That sounds like a great idea. Everybody could use a little adventure especially nowadays.
