That is a Lazuli bunting. Western Bluebirds are insect eaters. I have them on posts looking for insects to fly down and grab but never been on any of my seed feeders. We have only seen the Lazuli Buntings on rare occasions in the Sierra Foothills.

Grelin: I believe your ID is close...but I'm pretty sure it is a Blue Grosbeak.

Thanks for the identification. Haven't seen a Blue Grosbeak, only the Black-headed Grosbeak.

Def not a lazuli bunting! That huge beak tells the tale. I've never seen the Blue Grosbeak, only Black-headed and Rose-breasted, also stunners. Great sighting and I hope (know) you're providing water for these birds too.
