Cool Nogg, but $3K? I think I would pass.

I think I would put Carl next to some corn on the cob and mashed potatoes and save the cost of the Nogg.

I'd invest in chicken wire on top, sides and bottom first.

I say you only live once, and the chickens sure would be safe from all the wild life you have down there in one of those. Are would they?

I think I will be able to get away with a project that will only cost me $100

What about using the igloo for dogs? Great vent system on top and with a little creativity you could make a door for it.

What ever you build, plan for expanding your flock and elevation for when they roost. You'll never be happy with three chickens if your going to have your own egg supply.

I guess the chicken does come before the egg. Cool looking but no where near 3k cool.

Be sure and make the coop rat proof, lost a few hens because of them. Coop off the ground so they will be high & dry. A trap door behind the nesting boxes so you can snatch their eggs. They do like to range a bit to get their daily dose of bugs and whatever else strikes their fancy.

Jean Pagliuso (I was her assistant in LA)raised exotic chickens for a 4H project in Glendale, Ca back in the 50's. Now she photographs exotic chickens and sells incrediable prints. Jean's Website

That's an awesome looking chicken hut. You should get ten or twenty of them. Maybe they'd give you a volume discount.

I am still amazed by all the folks here who are knowledgable about chickens. That's a lot of expertise to tap into.

3K does sound like a lot. But, over time, it could be a bargain at around $12 per egg :-)

You need to change Carl's name to Mork if he's going to roost in that.
