ouch... 6 days seems like a long time.. I don't recall that on mine.. I'm remembering more like a day or so with some potent antibiotics... to get the swelling down fast so they could go ahead and do their thing.

maybe John's distance was involved in the week wait... and maybe John had a major infection that needed to be knocked down just to do an extraction.

Hang in and good luck...

Tylenol 3 with Codeine should knock out the pain for awhile.

no doubt you're aware & advised, but since you are out there solo… just to keep an eye out…

Hello John. I LOVE your blog. I can't wait to live my hermit dream. I recently purchased 20 acres of land in caldwell county sight unseen. It was cheap, but I would have been better to check it out first. Once I got around to driving out there, the sandy road to it was basically impassible for my truck and I spent 20 minutes digging it out. I'm interesting in learning how you to the phone company to build you a road! Is there some law that requires it? Anyway. I'm sorry about your tooth! I hope you don't try to extract it yourself!

It will work out.

Like the optimist falling from the top floor of a building and as he whizzed down past each floor he kept sayin - - it will work out.

The Unknown blogger above who bought the land sight unseen should also create a blog! :)

Hey "Unknown"! -- Sounds like you were fed a line of B.S. -concerning the Big Bend Telephone Company "building you a road". Here on the Terlingua Ranch they laid their main cable down existing roads - located on right of way owned by the adjacent property owners (without obtaining a permit to do so). From that existing road - they ran a bull dozier and ditch digging machine - TO LAY TELEPHONE CABLE - to your cabin! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BTW - my brother sold JOHN WELLS the original tract for the start of the FIELD LAB and both Don & I can confirm that an existing road was in place - before John purchased it. Most of those original dirt roads were cut in by the original developers -in order to sell more desert land - which was not accessible without a road.

John, I keep this stuff around for burns, mosquito bites etc., but the best use I have found it for a bad tooth. Use a qtip and put some on the offending tooth and the pain will be gone. As far out as you are this might be something you could keep around. It is wonderful.

Like rondeb, I've also run across something which works extremely well for burns, toothaches, deep lacerations, broken fingers and severe road rash.
