tailgate day...

The latch on my tailgate has gotten progressively worse over the past year.  Just replaced it today for $17 (including shipping).  76,82,56,0,B

Look at that - no rust to speak of. Sense of accomplishment. Necessity teaches us all sorts of things.

Some questions for you John, (no judgement, no conclusions already known, no ulterior motive) just want to know what your thoughts are because I value your opinion. That out of the way:

What do you think about trying to buy local and support your local economy?

I think about Amazon a fair amount. I think the amazon symbol is showing a revolution rather than a crooked smile. Do you think the symbol is a smile or a circular arrow? What do you think of the orange color? When the red and yellow of the communist flag are merged, Orange is the resulting color, for better or worse.

I fear that Amazon has the potential to have people's unaware of the importance of supporting their community businesses so unaware they might one day find their small town dried up because they did what we have all been taught to do, to maximize our economic potential with no thought about anything else. When Bezos says profit is "so last century" or whatever he said similar to this it scares me a bit. It is almost like the higher the amazon share price is driven with no profit, the more people might stamp out their local business unaware of the repercussions of their actions. International Jewry brought about the Soviet Union and arguably international Jewry sets Amazon's share price.

Just wondered your opinion on such matters, as I feel the proverbial rubicon is sitting in our laps.

Just to share more of my thinking:

My strong belief is that the guys running the empire want either of two outcomes:

Continuation of the present course of affairs economically or the rolling of the world into the UN. I personally would choose regional arrangements as preferable to both, the Euro zone being the foremost example of such at present. I think having a Europe, an Americas and an Asias is far peferable to the versions of empire our betters have planned for us. And that the basis of these groups is a sharing of a currency being far more important than any sharing of a commandeering unaccountable Federal political structure.

Just my 2c in the sake of full disclosure. I'm aware this is above the thinking of most.

One last thought:

Neither the present global arrangement nor the UN subscribes to the idea that neighbors need to try to get along. They both subscribe to the idea of power politics where the powerful run roughshod over the weak. A better policy is trying to get along with your neighbors despite your differences. Regional arrangements do that.

was the little red plastic rod clip the culprit? and you have to use the lock mechanism from the original?

Todd...I buy locally when what I need is available at a good price. There is nothing nefarious about Amazon or their logo. The primary role of the UN is to maintain international peace and security.

Remmij...the culprit was all the plastic that holds the latch in position had broken away including the metal inserts that the bolts go into...and yes, the lock from the original is meant to be switched over and is quite easy to do.

Hot dog, I got a comment that was too far out for Margery Bills! Margery you were my initial inspiration for the rambling off the wall style commentary. Always loved your style.
