Too Hot For Man Or Beast

122 in the sun...8% humidity...110 in the shade. 85 inside...45% humidity. Good day to stay out of the sun and plan the truss attack. Did lots of thinkin' and ordered some parts. Thanks for all the suggestions - we shall see what I decide to do. Made sure Benita was cozy in the heat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9i2QuuCStE

Got a small storm heading south toward me...a sprinkle would be nice.

Truly love how are you caring for Benita! I too can feel your (and her)pain to some extent.

Tucson was 109 with 30% humidity last week, and with the swamp cooler cooling its little heart out the house was down to a balmy 89% and 54% humidity.

I can't wait for the monsoons to be over and the humidity going back to single digits! I'm too frugal (cheap) to run the AC!

Sounds about like the Alice on Christmas Day.

We used to play golf in this kind of weather....wear a big hat and pour some water on it.

Don't expect to make par.

You're doing a fantastic job, keep up the good work, and stay hydrated!

Don't be afraid to just hang out and let the work wait for Autumn.

Next, Id like to see a photo of Benita, Ryan , chuck , and you all at the grub shack chowing down together. Do you think you can get her to follow you there.

One cow can provide enough energy to supply hot water for 19 houses.

I just took a look at Terlingua's weather forecast for tomorrow, you may want to water down Benita real good and head for Alpine. Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. Hot. Heat index near 115F. High near 105F. You will probably be at least five or ten higher. Hope pepino is tuned up and raring to go, might want to add a couple of bags of ice to it's supply. Of course you could always go look at Death Valley's forecast, that might cool you down a degree or so. People say that desert heat is dry heat, this doesn't look so dry to me.

I feel your pain but Austin as been 100+ for 41 days and 105 for 6 of those. I have to come out to Fort Davis to cool off.

Your kindness and empathy shine like the blazing Terlingua sun. The video of Benita in the shade with her face buried in the water pail is beautiful enough, then you bring her more cool water, and gently stroke her head. A tear welled up in my tired old eye. Thank you for being kind to the beasts, you are a fine human being and I'd like to be your friend.

It's remarkable how much more at home Benita has gotten at the Field Lab since Bill and I visited. :)
