The LeafFilter guy on TV would say “Way too dangerous John, stay off the ladder! Downspout way too stopped up, doing damage to your house. Call LeafFilter today!”

Ha. No trees = no leaves.

does the Sun - heat&UV - just eat the PVC (sch 40?) pipe?
No trees, less chance of the wildland fires too… you are always thinking.

My greenhouse is hoop style the tubes are 1.25" Going on 22 years in Florida sun. I painted the sun side of the hoops after 15 years or so because of offgassing. I had some connectors crack. If I was to do it again, I would use 20' sections and skip connectors in the center.

Not sure why you were replacing those, but evidently it needed doing or you wouldn't have done it. It went by so fast...oh, I know, I could stop it and start it and slow it down. Maybe you were improving the angles? Or something......Can't believe that stuff to join them up is still purple. After all these years. (Long time since I've done that sort of thing. Very long.)

JudithK... a lot of people don't realize that YouTube videos often have a description of the video or how to even view the description from embedded videos or how to view the description on a smartphone. That being said - here is the video description: Moley the burro broke a part of the north side a couple of weeks ago when he was using one of the vertical sections as a scratching post (seen at the beginning of the video) - so it was time for some repair work since the rainy season is due soon. It's been 11 years since I installed these gutters. At the time, I included vertical "first flush" pipes off of 2 gutter outlets due to long length of the gutter (almost 60'). In all these years, I have never had such a heavy rain that it overburdened the gutters and I don't really need the first flush sections to catch debris, so I decided to do away with them and just have one outlet at the end going into a tank. In the event that I do get a really heavy rain that the single outlet can't handle, I can always unscrew plugs I put into the second outlet to relieve the excess. I ordered cheaper "sewer drain" 3" PVC elbows that are meant for thinner diameter pipe so I had to sand down the ends of the standard PVC pipe so they would fit. Made quick work of it with my bench belt sander. Note: I noticed that PVC will shrink a bit over time. The long horizontal pipe sections actually shortened by almost one inch.

Ah geez. Thank you for going to such trouble to explain, or I hope you only had to copy and paste. I don't look at anything on my smartphone, just on my mac. I didn't know about the videos having a description. What you did all makes sense. Especially Moley being at work. Thank you.
