Rain

Last night's storm only lasted about 30 minutes but ended up with nearly an inch of rain. That much rain that fast is pretty devastating to my road. Planning on a drone road check tomorrow. Also got some golf ball size hail that didn't damage any solar panels but took quite a toll on the greenhouse polycarbonate roof section. 86,90,65,0,B

Spring'kle

Cooked up two batches of cheese this morning.  Nice thing about making cheese - there is wait time that allows for other things - like prepping for rain.  My efforts were doubly rewarded with 2 lbs. of cheese and a rainstorm this afternoon.  Got a good pelting with pea sized hail for about 20 minutes.  Mr. Floppy took it like a man with his back to the wind.  My boys figured out the barn is a good thing after running around like crazy when the storm began.  Not enough rain for the creeks to flow, but I caught about 500 gallons of new water off my catchment systems.  63,90,55, .24",B, 0

just a little storm

Checked the weather forecast this morning and found a big threat due at the end of the day. Decided to make an Alpine run to stock up...just in case. Watched a big black cloud follow me back to the Field Lab late this afternoon. I wasn't home but about 45 minutes when it hit. From 5 to 7PM we got 1.33" of rain with almost golf ball size hail and a maximum wind speed of 68.5mph. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzBiGmk9WY0 Shredded a few cosmetic items here and there, took out my other two wind turbines, and busted the glass on my solar oven, but the house and solar panels held up like a champ. On the upside...I pumped another 2400 gallons into storage. Checked in with all my neighbors and everyone survived with flying colors - including Benita who came in after the rain for dinner. I got a feeling my road didn't do as well. Looks like tomorrow will be a clean up day - including looking for pieces of wind turbine blades...
