west rim trail...

Just about worn out all the trails....Benita done hid herself good.  Had a nice surprise late today - Benita's daughter Beatrice came in with her latest calf....the legend lives on.

An unannounced visitor came by this afternoon with her out of control dog.  Carl almost bit the dust.  Fortunately, he is just a a little freaked out and a few feathers short of a full load.  The visitor is no longer welcome at TFL.  She knows there is livestock here and I have warned her before.  Irresponsible pet owners really piss me off.  59,74,34,0,B

T'would definitely seem, from this posting, that you are willing to waken early each morning, and that Carl is now a permanent resident - but I knew that as soon as you named him LOL

Carl needs some self defense lessons. Used have a rooster at my Granny's that was feared by both cats and dogs. He weren't as big as Carl either but he wasn't afraid of anything. Saw him try to tear the eyes out of Beefmaster bull who happened to poke his head through a fence. Granny called him her 'gallo diablito' Little Devil Rooster. He also famous for catching mice and cicadas.

Kudos to Carl to surviving the attack dog...what's the white calf's name? How about Benito or Alba (boy or girl)?

Maybe the wild dog is on to something...sell the feathers. I've seen women with them in their hair.

Shoot the damn dog! I did that once when a "friend" came to my farm and he let his dog out, who then IMMEDIATELY started trying to take down a sow that had just had pigs. I walked over to the barn, picked up mu trusty Iver Johnson Champion 12 ga. and shot the damn dog right then...He got over it and later saiud he understood.

Did you ask Beatrice where Benita is? She knows. If you haven't yet, please ask Beatrice, "Where is Benita?" It may be a sign that they're on their way in. But if you ask directly, Beatrice will find a way to answer your question.

A lack of personal responsibility combined with a sense of entitlement is the constant ruination of our civilization. It rhymes, rolls off the tongue and unfortunately, it's the dang truth! Here's another reason for carry, John; puttin' down dogs and mebbe so their ignorant owners. Bullies! Chicken bullies!

(That was a light hearted comment meant to inspire a chuckle. Like all TX CHL holders and more than a few combat vets, I know the toll of taking a life. But trust me, there will be more dogs and more ignorant sum'bitches by and by.)

Another long walk. These searches must be therapy for you, a way to process her disappearance. It would be nice to find some sign.....

Beatrice is a lovely gal.

A close call for Carl.

I like Joel Salatin's method. The rural 3 Ss.....shoot, shovel, & shut up. Your chicken in the mouth of an unleashed and unruly dog is not cool...of course the 3 S rule may not be appropriate in the presence of the mutt's owner...
