Road trip to Balmorhea

Saw lots of water - and a visit with my friend Luma.  She lives in a teepee, has a beautiful small garden, and critters (including just born last night bunnies).  83,100,66,0,B

Go swimming at the State Park pool. It's cool, literally. Spring fed cold. Swim with the fish & turtles and such. Great memories when my kids were kids. Oasis.

Excellent. Did my Open water Scuba dive certification at Balmorhea.

Ahem,It is difficult to find open water in the desert you know.

Don & I first visited the beautiful Balmorhea Springs in 1950 - 64 years ago. We were on a Boy Scout trip going to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. We had spent the night in a Boy Scout camp in mountains north of Fort Davis. We then travelled on to Balmorhea, and enjoyed that wonderful swimming pool with all those fish in it!

Glad you get the visit that part of west Texas. Yes, it is an oasis in the desert. Heading to the state park in a week. I worked there one summer some time ago so I explored lots of west Texas on my days off. At first I felt like I was dropped off in hell, but then I grew to love it. There is a beauty in west Texas that many don't really see. I'm looking forward to returning.

Nice garden. The pool sounds like a good snorkeling spot.

Hi John,
What a surprise to go to the library to try and drop you an email and see photos of my land, babies and tipi! For a nonteckie, it seems like magick!teeheeheee.
It was fun to see y'all at the lake, I hope you survived the new baby mosquitoes that cam out that morning. Its calmed down lots...whew!
today a rare day of clouds, neither sun nor moon appearing through the blanket, a good day to come play at the library. And here comes the lightning now...But after ranch living on the TOP of my red rock mesa (that drew lightning with its iron,) living lake shore is no stress. I was blessed at the ranch to live near the rojillo Mts. Their iron pulled away the really big strikes, only the thunder rolled back at me.
I sent my post card of you and beautiful Ben to my parents...They will LOVE it! Thank you again for that. Please give my hugs to Ben, Ive been a vegetarian since I was 7 years old, and cattle can smell I'm safe and and tend to REALLY like me..And I know I would adore Ben too. You are the first adult Ive ever met with a bovine pet...I find that sooo sweet!
I hope you drop by again some day, as you were my first interesting human company in years! teeheeheeee
I don't know if this page is the place to write you, but I hope this letter reaches you...
Smiles across the miles ~ Luma.
