the goggles have landed...

A bit of touch and go this morning with the weather.  Was afraid I wouldn't get my deliveries due to rain.  Luckily the nearby storms passed this morning with only a brief sprinkle and it was clear sailing.  Headed out at 2 PM and caught a new FedEx driver headed my way with the goggles.  I told her I was sorry she didn't get a chance to meet Chupa.  She was more than happy to avoid the encounter since she had already heard all about him.  Ventured south and caught a substitute UPS driver on the road with another delivery.  I figured Manny must be on vacation because normally I am his first stop and he gets here by 1 PM.  Brought the new gear home and charged everything up.  Easily got through linking the goggles with the Mavic and luckily my poor eyesight is just right to be able to see an incredible image without any glasses (the view is truly amazing).  The fit of the goggles on my noggin was a little iffy and they tended to slip (as I have seen in some of the reviews).  Figured out that wearing a backwards baseball cap under the rig was just what I needed to keep them in place.  Lots of little things to still figure out.  Will do a full review of all the new gear eventually on YouTube.  82,88,75,0,B

Hi John, check out your story on youtube. fascinating. Someday I want to meet you. I am in Japan living in a high rise building. Love to visit your place. Take care. Nimmi

Hope you can visit someday Nimmi. Big Bend National Park is nearby and is definitely a place to visit. There is camping at Big Bend and also a nice hotel with a restaurant. You would have to rent a car to get everywhere. This is the "Wild West" here and very different from Japan which I liked very much when I lived there. :-)

so these "goggles" allow the owner of the drone to go "see" anyone the drone can go?

hmm... I see some interesting mischief ... for some folks.. in some situations... ye God!

The idea that drones are going to be used in such a way that proves to be a nuisance or an invasion of privacy is a common misconception by the general public. That simply is not happening and is not why people are getting involved in the sport. Most drones provide some form of video feedback so you can see where you are flying and what you are filming. The goggles are just a more immersive view. Although a person does not own the airspace above their private property, flying around just to spy on your neighbor is a sure way to have a complaint filed against you with local law enforcement and the FAA.

I'm quite sure that the vast majority of folks , hearts are pure ... I'm also a pragmatic cynic who suspects not all are God's Children. ;-) Maybe like that guy in Silence of the Lambs wearing night goggles as he stalked the FBI Lady Clarice Starling.

There will be unparalleled good things that will far, far outnumber the miscreants deeds ... from finding lost kids to bridge inspections..to finding hiding bad guys.. to ..who knows?

Well cool, John, that's really fortunate your eyesight and the DJI Google screens are a great match, and that you found an easy solution for what some have said is problematic with the fit makes it even better.

I think those who expect perfection--mainly because they spent a lot of pesos for something--and then leave bad reviews are probably always disappointed in life. Those who realize and accept that nothing is perfect and look for solutions to make things better, instead of only complaining, are happier people. More pleasant to be around, too.

I waited to order the Goggles, mostly because DJI said they take longer to ship and that would delay my whole order, but think now, especially that you find them great, I'll go ahead and get some soon as my Mavic shows up.

Looking forward to seeing how they affect flying. . .
