Spent most of the day going up and down ladders and climbing the scaffold. Measured about 20 times and cut once. Got the first purlin lined up and set on the tippy top....the trusses line up beautifully. Sure was good to see that nice straight line once I got the ridge into position. A little more figuring to do then I go into factory production mode. Looking forward to getting the rest of the steel off the ground and into the air. 47,62,21,0
Too cold to work outside today so I paced and planned. As usual, the next uncharted phase of the construction of the greenhouse will involve a bit of thinking before work actually begins. I prefer to get it figured out in my head before I get my hands dirty. Got a load of laundry done and had a quiet (non-broadcast) night at the Starlight tonight. Highlight of the day was this longhorn cow and two calves that wondered by for a visit (and a snack). I like to think that she is one of Benita's sisters based on her bangs. I really miss seeing the herd this time of year. 
Laptop power pirates, beware: For a couple of months now I have heard a rumor that Louise Hayes, the General Manager of the Big Bend Motor Inn has been infuriated by patrons coming into the restaurant and plugging in their laptops while using the free internet service provided there. It was also rumored that she was going to have someone from the staff cover all the outlets to inhibit such behavior. All the extra supports and brackets are now welded firmly into place. Now it is just a simple matter of installing 1000 ft. of C-purlins across the trusses....this oughta take a little while. 46,78,24,0
Got a bit more welding in today as well as one more Field Lab tour. Finished the extra parts on container one and two. Stopped off for afternoon tea at the GrubShack then headed back to Jerry and Eva's to hook up their new flat screen TV. Eva has to watch the Cowboys play tomorrow afternoon on their new 26" window to the outside world. Stopped by Chuck and Aunt Kathy's on the way home just in time for early cocktail hour. That pretty much wrecked me for the rest of the day. o1.01.10 started off as the coldest morning since I arrived on the scene... 17.6 degrees. Due to my utter disdain for parties and artificial holiday gatherings, I hit the sack last night at 9:30PM. Got 10 hours of sleep to start off the new year. Had to wait for the sun to come up and defrost my windshield (I left my ice scraper back in NY) before heading to the GrubShack for my first breakfast of 2010.

he east side of the HWY by 11 so I headed home. Took another hour before it burned off over TFL. Easy day here just finishing off the last bow tie on the containers - took yet another break for lunch before welding it into place. Blasted Cuban music all day thanks to JD's Christmas present of CD's.....really good music to work to.
Ben is back in town to work on his place so I headed over for a visit just before sunset. In only a day and a half he installed a wood stove, 4 windows, a kitchen counter, a sleeping loft and is just about ready for the stairway to heaven.
