selling the airstream...

So I found a buyer for the Airstream 2 months ago.  Problem is I don't have a title and the buyer kinda wants one.  When I bought it 9 years ago, it came with a title but I lost it before I did a title transfer.  Getting a replacement title under these circumstances is a bit tricky but I finally figured it out.  Finalizing the last bit of paperwork in Alpine on Friday.  It will be going to a couple that lives in Las Vegas.  They plan on completely restoring it.  90,98,77,0,B

Americans are still dying from Covid-19 at an alarming rate, yet nothing from the white house about the growing numbers.  In typical Trump fashion, all we got this week was a mean, nasty, and disrespectful response to Biden's announcement of his choice for VP.  Trump called Kamala Harris mean, nasty, and disrespectful (imagine that) and it looks like his new nickname for her is Phony Kamala.  In almost the same sentence he referred once again to Biden and Warren as Sleepy Joe and Pocahontas.  It is unfortunate that this kind of immature grade school behavior is what most appeals to his supporters.

Got the hairspring issue resolved and the watch is now running within a few seconds per hour.  Cleaned up the dial and just making minor regulation adjustments while waiting for the new crystal.  93,106,78,0,C

the guts of the Hamilton...

Looks to me like the fast running problem with this wristwatch (almost 6 minutes per hour) is a hairspring that is sticking to itself because of too much oil.  Going to try to clean it tomorrow.  The balance wheel and hairspring is the most delicate part of a mechanical watch.  Keep your fingers crossed... 93,104,77,0,B

The really sad thing is...this appropriate mashup that first appeared on Twitter isn't nearly as embarrassing as the full interview.  "It is what it is" when speaking about the number of deaths from Covid-19...now over 160,000 in the US.  This from a president that assured the country back in January, "It's one person coming in from China.  We have it under control.  It's going to be just fine,"...and has repeatedly downplayed the crisis and keeps doubling down on all his lies.

New watch stem from Bulgaria is a perfect match - although it will have to get cut down to fit the case.  I broke the stem on this Russian watch when I first began working on it over 2 months ago.  Now waiting on 6 identical parts movements that I got for 24 bucks including shipping from the Ukraine.  Need to replace a lost clutch wheel on this movement.  Servicing (and getting parts for) old watches takes a lot of patience. 92,102,78,0,C

Five weeks later and I just received a watch stem from Bulgaria that I ordered from eBay (ten bucks including shipping) for one of my Russian watches.  Reminds me of the days when I was a kid and would mail in cereal box tops for a prize of some kind.  The delivery time was usually listed as 6-8 weeks.  88,95,78,0,B
