Dr. Doug

Pulled the forms off the north pour this morning...set 'em right away for the south pour. Finished up by 1PM. Took an extra hour to sort out the mess from the last couple of days of construction. Chatted with some neighbor/visitors for more than awhile then ran them off so I could hit the outdoor shower. Headed down to the Ghost Town for some quality porch time. Met up with Dr. Doug and set him up with a YouTube account and uploaded a video for him....his debut as a fashion model. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9V8PWpGYaY Need to visit him again and upload the long version....you gotta see him work the catwalk. Caught a nice sunset on the drive home. A very well rounded day indeed. 61,86,29,0

tied'n'formed'n'poured

Prepped and capped the north entrance....and set the rebar for the south side. Actually put in about 5 hours today which was worth it - I keep forgetting that if I don't do it...it aint gonna get done. 57,78,28,0

last year...this year

Filled the north and south walls with sand....lots of wind all day. Happy to have finished moving 15 wheelbarrow loads. I rather enjoy checking the blog to see what was going on a year ago. Had rain this time last year, my elm started blooming, and the west end equinox. 54,67,32,0

Loot!

Walked the new land again and found two nice draws, one of which has a 10' waterfall during rains. Several nice old desert junipers also grow out there. Major find of the day was an old car battery and a motorcycle gas tank. The battery had to have been dropped where I found it but the tank could have floated down from God knows where.

Had a morning of shoveling today....cow poop and sand. No longhorns today due to high winds, I reckon. Thought it was a good sign to start moving the fresh loads to the compost area. Wheeled a couple more loads of sand into position to fill the north and south walls.

Two more signs that spring is here.....my first lizard sighting and my twilight bats were back this evening....sure is hard to get a photo of the bats. 58,75,38,0

TFL just got a little bigger...

Biz down south yesterday was to seal the deal on acquiring 20 acres that borders my property to the south. It's official now - The Field Lab is 33 1/3% bigger. I have had my eye on this chunk for over a year and decided it was time to pull the trigger. Spent most of the day walking the new spread and picked a couple of possible locations for future guest quarters . The new south end of my empire has a most excellent view. 57,80,36,0
