studs

Culled the lettuce, squash, and melon plants this morning...gonna replant.  Found a nice little volunteer flower that I left alone.  Ben had a visitor this morning.  Got started on the studs today.  Only thing I would have done different with my present house is - 2x6 instead of 2x4 studs allowing for more insulation and the addition of a radiant barrier.  Gonna beef it up this time.  The hardest part is getting started - after that, there's no turning back till the job is done.  This is gonna take awhile but I gotta get those piles of free insulation out of the yard...and I think I have a new solar oven that needs to be finished.  95,105,72,0,B,0

an empty container...

Cleared out the future house container so I can start studding and insulating inside.  Left the back door unlatched and a gust yanked it off its' hinges.  Wasn't up to welding so I played with some rocks instead.  The sloppy east stack has been calling to me lately.  Having a lot of technical issues with Ustream...back to Stickam till I sort them out.  91,99,74,0,B, .12

inspired...

Post office run in the AM for more tshirt mailings.  Made the rounds for too long and didn't get home till 1.  Ben had an exemplary day.  Since I had those new cowboy ropes...decided to look online for a lesson.  Found this vid and it worked like a charm.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRxcCKeaLlw&feature=related  I'm landing it 80% of the time after just a couple of throws.  Once you know the mechanics...it's like magic. Will work on a new YouTube video to post tomorrow.  99,107,71,0,B,0

the ropes

Alpine run this morning.  Filed some deeds for some new property I just bought.  5 acres a half mile due north of TFL and 20 acres way out in the Solitario.  Helping out some friends that had the land and no use for it.  Got a new tire from Scott(Breezy) and Jared...to replace one that got a sidewall puncture the day I drove out to winch poor ol' Bob out of the swamp.  Did the rounds then picked up a couple of lassos from an estate sale while on the way out of town.  I think I know just the man to teach me how to use these in an efficient manner.   Also picked up a cheap adjustable halter for Ben.  He is beginning to show a little too much fee will so it is time to start the tough love training.  He romped around quite a bit and chugged 9 pints for his intake today. 98,109,73,0,B,0

streaming video

It was a scorcher today.  Had breakfast at the Motor Inn Cafe then ran errands.  The blaze was building by the time I got home around noon.  Was worried that Ben's banding would make him loose his appetite - but he did his new personal best on this, his one month birthday...one gallon of milk replacer.

IT Neil made a good technical suggestion this week - I started looking into switching my streaming video server.  I have been on Stickam for a couple of years now but it is time to move on.  I have set up an account at Ustream.  They have a more suitable demographic for my content.  Ben has really boosted the ratings - over 81,000 views last month.  I think he rates because he is something different to watch on Stickam - something other than a half clothed teen girl, chomping her gum, texting her friends, all while in her bedroom sitting mindlessly in front of her webcam.  Stickam is primarily a social streaming site - although I'm not sure how sociable it is to sit in front of your webcam for hours at a time.  Ustream has a specific category called "lifecasting" which pretty much nails it for what I do with my live stream.  Gonna do the move this weekend - link to follow.  96,109,71,0,B,0
