Noticed a couple of leaves missing on one of my pepper plants yesterday...lots more gone this morning. Found 2 beefy hornworms munching away.  Harvested 30 peppers for myself...and 2 horn worms for Carl and the girls.  Chickens go nuts over hornworms. 86,101,70,0,B,.72

The Book of Life

Part of my nightly routine is to watch the Glenn Beck show online.  If you are not a fan...I challenge you to take them up on their free 14 day trial offer to watch online, or view a few episodes if you have a cable or satellite network that carries his channel....if only to give you a perspective on world events that the mainstream media doesn't.  Often labeled a conspiracy theorist, he has a really good track record of being dead on with how he sees world events unfolding.

I began listening to "talk radio" 10 years ago while on construction jobs in upstate NY.  I was tired of the same senseless music pounding in my ears and rather liked listening to something that would make me think.  I have listened to all the "right wing hucksters" and Glenn appears to me to be the only one of that group that has evolved - growing stronger and more genuine with his message. While listening to him last night, he was being interviewed about the large public events he has produced in recent years.  I can appreciate the fact that he is always questioning himself over whether or not he is making a difference in the world.  While talking about current events in the middle east and the darkness growing in our own country, he gave the impassioned plea "write your name in the book of life!"  That struck me.  We all need to stand up and be counted...to take action...to choose between good and evil.

Finished casting 30 half ounce coins.  Made a nice fat full troy ounce coin for Ben's Aunt Terry as a thank you for his birthday present.

It has be awhile since my last trip to the recycling center and the pile here was getting a little out of control. Spent the afternoon bagging it up for a trip out of the desert.  94,103,70,0,B,0

While most of America is blindly basking in booze, cookouts, and fireworks, our nation is crumbling.  Independence Day has become just another excuse for a party and not much more.  Sure we still have the best chance in the world to get ahead here...but at what price now and for how much longer?  Every day personal responsibility is exchanged for government control.  I celebrate where we came from but I dread where we are going.  The consent of the governed is what really worries me...

Ben Day II

Ben's Aunt Terry brought his special present today...along with a muffin and a candle.  Got an old saddle to start getting him used to.  He is still two years away from having me hop on his back but might as well start getting him used to a rig.  Starting him off with just a saddle blanket for awhile.  Will post a video first time he tries it on.

Ebay delivered another load of sterling flatware for the half ounce coins I will be selling only from the Longhorn Benita facebook page in about a week.  Two and a half pounds of forks and spoons turned into clean nuggets today.  82,96,67,0,B,0
