Diversion

Was able to find a good excuse to put off pouring concrete another day.  My friend Brad's painting company is working at the Starlight Theatre.  They are currently repainting the ceiling a nice deep blue to cover the dingy/dusty black.  As soon as that is done and the floors are repaired they will be coating them next.  All the character that we have grown to know and love will remain intact.  With Jason and Diego at the helm - they will be back better than ever.  Spent a couple of hours shooting video and webcasting from there this morning.  Going back tomorrow for some interviews to post on YouTube.  November first is the tentative re-opening date.  76,87,60,0,B

Sure glad to see the Starlight is getting fixed up and ready to open. I was only there one time last April and liked it. Sure to want to go back.

Well it didn't take long for the Starlight to make a come-back. It is under new ownership I assume?

I feel like I know so much more now after visiting John's blog than when I was actually in Terlingua, I feel like a local, there is a cast of folks out there thatI know thru John's eyes, and that I will regognize some day in person, and I like that!

Frito,

I feel the same way. My wife and I are close to looking for land that way. It helps to have someone like John showing the viable ways to make things comfortable.

And it helps to feel like you are up to speed on local happenings.

Glad to see the Starlight is resurrecting!

Being all the way in Australia, having never seen Terlingua or the Starlight, I was saddened regardless to see a place with suck character disappear.

Glad to hear it's being worked on in the hope of returning.

Best news I have heard in a long time. Jason and Diego are great people. I am really happy they will be back. Here's hoping 241 burger night gets reinstituted.

I have to echo what Frito Bandito and Cool Change said. Reading this blog keeps me plugged into Terlingua Time.
So glad to read that the Starlight is reopening. Looks like it will be in time for our visit next month - yea! Since reading about it's closing recently, we've been reviewing our Terlingua dining out options. Long Draw Pizza is a must every time we're down there. Kathy's Kosmic Kowgirl and La Kiva are both great eateries. There are a couple of others that I can't remember the names of now, but, as always, we try to spread our tourist dollars around when we're in the area. Plus, it's a great way to meet interesting local people, instead of staying secluded in the grounds of the Chili Cook-Off.

I hope they get it opened for cook-off week-end. That would sure boost the new operators income and help defer some of those painting cost.
