compost...

Dr. Deb built and loaded 3 composting bins for me today.  I hauled 2 loads of sand to finish fine tuning the level on the SE watertank.  Mr. Floppy arrived early this morning for a long overdue visit.  Benita, Beatice and Penelope had some family time.  Another gourmet dinner thanks to Deb's gardens to celebrate the work.  78,93,43,0,B

I'm interested to see how composting works out in your arid environment, John. Will your compost areas be sealed, to keep moisture in?

I really like the use of the rocks for the compost bins, but can't really make out what is being put down for the base? or barrier? in the bottom, based on the picture. Looked at Dr. Deb's website and really like it. Can't wait to see what else the two of you have in store for the Field Lab. Also, glad the fires are north of you a good distance and hope they clear up soon. It is very disheartening to see the scorched land and loss of animal life, but so thankful no human lives lost. Be Safe this week (more than usual).

I am just checking in to see my girl Benita. Every time I see her I think of that song by REO Speedwagon- Roll with the Changes.. John you are an inspiration hope all os well.

I hope you get some rain soon!! poor critters out there.

I have to use peat moss for my composing but its in the extreme opposite environment and the compose never dries. I guess invasion of massive bugs are not happening there.

Great compost bins. Use what you have, and you have plenty of rock. Hope they work well. You're probably going to need the compost soon, for the greenhouse.
