first conenose...

Found my first Conenose Beetle of the season lurking just outside my door.  This particular one will not be a problem for me.  It was a HOT one today but I got the next pour prepped.  A new distraction on the horizon...not human.  100,112,76,0,C

Consider yourself lucky. I've already offed 3 conenose blood suckers. 2 inside and one outside.

Even over hear near the Gulf Coast I have killed three and two escaped me. In prior years I have seen very few. Maybe it is the severe drough that they like.

Kill them all. They can carry chagas which you do not want to contract. Funny, I thought my work in epidemiology was over.

Looks like a stinkbug!

Looks like a very business-oriented beetle.

I like that clean forming and re-baring job. You do quality work.

We used to call those "bloodsuckers" and another name for those sneaky bastards is assassin beetles. They used to bite us at night at the ranch and not even wake us up...very painful the next day, though. Here's more about the conenose family of beetles. I prefer scorpions to these guys, if I have a choice. But I could do without either one...
