nbsp?

Allow me to introduce you to my friend, Kick Ass.  Something I would much rather answer a threat with rather than cowering under a desk with just a cell phone to call for help or say goodbye.  In my hands this is now (thanks to the media) commonly known as an assault weapon.  In the hands of DHS (Dept. of Homeland Security) it is referred to as a PDW (personal defense weapon).

Last summer, DHS put out a "Personal Defense Weapons Solicitation" for the procurement of up to 7,000 rifles that are selectable between semi and full automatic fire at FEDBIZOPPS  ( hmmmm....Federal Business Opportunities sounds kind of cheerful, doesn't it?)  I suggest you pay particular attention to the Section C pdf.   https://www.fbo.gov/?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=d791b6aa0fd9d3d8833b2efa08300033&tab=core&_cview=0
Why would our government (that claims to be fighting a war on terror, yet has failed to secure our borders and is planning on rewarding millions of illegal aliens with citizenship) need such domestic firepower?

When you click on the link and read through the synopsis, you will see something strange.  I was curious about the use of nbsp.  Apparently it has two meanings...it is up to you to decide which best fits.  http://www.internetslang.com/NBSP-meaning-definition.asp  49,65,60,0,W,0

I think it has something to do with HTML...perhaps a glitch in their cut and paste of the contract specs...nevertheless, I do not trust the government cuzzin'. Well done and...nice rifle. What's the make of that "black gun"?

It's just an html thing, John.

I knew that....I just think the alternate definition fits better.

I've been interested in home defense lately myself, guns and otherwise... John, how does this choice fit in with your spirituality?

Like I have posted before, the government isn't concerned about the welfare or safety of the American citizen. Gun control is all about the safety of politicians and their string pullers. Gun control is really public control.

It is Congress's total disregard for the wishes of the American public on immigration and a variety of other issues, that makes them fearful of an armed public.

The American public put down the last two attempts at amnesty in 2006 and 2007.

Now with 23 million unemployed Americans, 46 million on food stamps, trillions of dollars of deficit and a still declining economy, what do they want to tackle? Illegal immigration.

Any amnesty will only increase the misery that millions of Americans already face. Adding millions more people to the work force will not help the unemployed. The money wired out of the country will not help the economy. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation reported in 2007 that an amnesty will cost the American taxpayer 2.6 trillion dollars. That estimate was based on the low estimate of 11.5-12 million illegal aliens. Today with inflation, declining economy and obviously larger numbers the amount is much higher.

Sad to see that you are acquiring tools to defend a limited short life on earth while ignoring the wisdom of Jesus from the bible that offers everlasting life.

It's not too late. Seek Jehovah God as your saviour as his son Jesus Christ taught us. Do not hate your enemies. Love them.

Truely, your salvation is your ultimate reward, not your earthly possessions. Those that seek your possessions or wish to do you harm will receive their recompense from God.

Matthew 5

43“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighborh and hate your enemy.’ 44But I tell you: Love your enemiesi and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Don't be a tax collector John.

Please, do not turn to evil, John.

Jesus instructed you to pray for those that seek to harm you. It's not too late.

Do not allow false teachings from men who wish to promote their own selfish political gains to misdirect you from the path Jesus directed you to follow.

I do not say these things to protect evil doers that might some day come to do you harm, because if you follow the teachings of Jesus, no man can ever do you harm. I say these things to protect YOU John. The attitude you are fostering is the path to your own everlasting destruction.

Jesus warns you not to follow the path you are taking.

51And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew out his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.52Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.

Put yourself on the righteous path. Love your neighbors as well as your enemies and the rewards you will receive will be far greater than any of the material possessions you currently seek to protect.

Please do not allow the petty political squabbles of small deceitful earthly men of any political party or any secular human political agenda divert you from the teachings of Jesus and everlasting life through the love of his father Jehovah God.

Be not afraid, John.
You need not fear anyone that might try to harm your body. Jesus told you so.

Matthew 10:

28“Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.29“Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.30“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.31“So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

If you really believe in God, John. You have nothing to fear. No reason to ever pick up a sword, or a gun, to use against an enemy.

The choice is yours John. Do you choose the path of righteousness, or the path to your own eternal destruction?

I like your new friend John.
I am a Christian and it is my right to own weapons. Yes I trust in the Lord to never have to use it.
Just because you own a weapon doesn't make you evil or mean you will turn to evil. Target practice can be a great family activity. And guns can be used to hunt for food. Or kill rabid animals.
**Don't judge someones faith because they own weapons. You don't know their heart or relationship with Christ. I know many Pastors who own and have conceal carry permits. They are awesome representatives and teachers for Christ.

Jay said...

Nita, you make a valid point, except that neither target practice nor hunting were the reasons mentioned by John in his post.

From John's blog post:
Allow me to introduce you to my friend, Kick Ass. Something I would much rather answer a threat with rather than cowering under a desk with just a cell phone to call for help or say goodbye. "

John's intentions are very clear. He plans on using his gun to attack anyone that comes to threaten him. John does not mention target practice or hunting.

Also Nita,
Your comment:
"Yes I trust in the Lord to never have to use it."

You imply that you believe that God may let you down, and in that situation you will be forced to take matters into your own hands and use your gun.

Why else would you have made the statement that I quoted?

Your words show a lack of trust in Jehovah God that saddens me.

Anyone who is a genuine Christian knows within their own heart that there will never come a situation where use of a deadly weapon against another person is required.

You're correct that nobody knows another's relationship with Christ. That doesn't change the fact that both John and yourself have posted your own words that are in direct conflict with the teachings of the true Christian Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Jesus teachings are clear. The bible describes them in detail.

Those that choose to ignore those teachings, do so not at the peril of their enemies, but at THEIR OWN PERIL.

It is your own salvation someone risks destroying by taking up arms against other children of God.

The gun is not the sin, it is the sin of ignoring Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ that is the biggest sin.

John posted about not wanting to cower under a table dialing 911 in a futile attempt to save his earthly life. I submit that our earthly lives are gift from God and are best used in the service of God's works. God has made it abundantly clear through the teachings of his son Jesus Christ that killing another person, even if that person is an enemy is not what he wants.

I suggest that there is a far better alternative to cowering under a table dialing 911, or shooting someone with a gun.

I suggest prayer during a time of confrontation. Pray to God to touch the heart of your assailant. Pray to God to give you the strength to not abandon the teachings of his son Jesus Christ.

That strategy may or may not save your earthly life, but it will go a very long way in giving you everlasting life. The alternative, of picking up a gun and killing an assailant, most certainly places someone on the path to everlasting destruction.

Also from Matthew 5:
38“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’g 39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Instead of taking up your gun, Jesus instructs us to turn the other cheek, love our enemy, and help them. If they come to take from you, give them the hat off your head and the cloak on your back in addition to the items they seek.

The choice is yours. You may choose the righteous path of love as taught by Jesus, or you may choose the path of anger, hate, and death, leading to your own everlasting destruction.

What, gun pix instead of a sermon? I'm disappointed. Although come ot think of it, the tenor of many of the sermons John posts does fit right in with gun photos. I stand corrected.

The govt sure can generate a whole lot of BS verbiage just to source a model of weapon that has basically been around for decades, with a number of manufacturers offering their versions of the same design. Surely they know what's available, they have already purchased millions of these for all the various armed forces.

I like the AR rifles but personally I prefer my Mossberg M590A1 12 ga as my first line of defense, it's a truly frightening weapon that devastates anything within 100 yds. The M1A takes care of anything beyond that.

I'll keep my Colt LE6920...I can put 5 rounds down range at 80 yards that can be covered with a quarter... Beyond that 3 to 4" groups at 150 to 300 yards will still get the job done.

How long does it take for the Sheriff to respond to a 911 call from the pay phone?

Better to be prepared and not need it than need it and not be prepared.

Plus, even Piers Morgan got a grin on his ugly mug firing one during a recent visit to Texas to interview Ted Nugent.
