the emasculator

Bud's banding was going bad so Dick Cain and his son Breeze and grandson Jared came out today after church to seal the deal.  Dick roped him by his little horns on the third try.  Ben loved all the excitement.  Bud wasn't very happy about being caught, but took the quick procedure like a champ and didn't even flinch.  He hopped right up like nothing happened and should heal quickly.  His moo is a little higher pitched now.  66,80,45,0,B,0

Today's ordeal sort of reminds me of Genesis 34.  http://www.biblestudytools.com/nlt/genesis/34.html   Reads like a screenplay for a Quentin Tarantino movie.

Thankfully, Jesus brought us a new covenant, and a new law, different from the much more ancient times of Genesis.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love. Galations 5:6

11But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.12I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves.

13For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.14For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”15But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.

16But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

Galations 5:11-16

Even Eunuchs can become Christians.

36As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?”37[And Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”]38And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him. Acts 8:36-38

The bible is silent, however, about anything specific regarding Eunuch Longhorns.

I guess I have a lot to learn about cattle. What's the benefit of creating a steer? Isn't the goal of cattle ranching to have as many cattle as possible?

For Chris:

There may be too many intact males in a herd that young bulls don't need to be used in that breeding herd. Bulls that have inferior genetics due to the history of their dam or sire or their overall performance are also cut.

Steers are more docile and less dangerous and unpredictable than bulls are. Steers also bring a premium to the North American market, and marble better than bulls do.
