the tent...

Another cold front coming in tomorrow...might get sub freezing overnight temps Sunday - Wednesday.  Finished framing up and plasticizing the warm corner in the greenhouse.  Ambient outside high today was 59...the tent got up to 81.  Hope it will help hold some heat over the cold nights coming.  45,60,48,0,W,0

ar you making those clips yourself with wire? The T-post clips that I got when I bought field fencing came with 5 clips per T-post. They slipped on one end of the wire, snapped behind the post and then snapped over the second wire. If you wanted extra holding, you could take a fence plier and twist the snap end up closed. Those in th pic look like aluminum chin link fence wires.

John as small as that are is, you could use that solid insulation board you got some time ago. lay it ontop of the plastic, it will add considerably more insulation, the plastic will keep the moisture in and the drafts out.

That plastic is great in the daytime, but it isn't insulation at night. You really need a small light bulb or something to generate heat at night ...

Interesting file-naming convention, perhaps due to all that cold weather...

Make the plastic into a double wall for an air boundry layer then set out a few long burning storm candles or lanterns inside. Keeping the temp in the mid fourties should be good enough overnight. A 100W incandesant bulb would probably do fine except you're have power issues.

You need some "thermal mass" in the tent to help keep the temps up. Something like your solar shower heating up a couple of barrels of water all day would help.

B, I noticed that too. Maybe he's just really impressed with his work. John, You could make some room in the tent and take the place of the light bulb that's been suggested. Your body heat in the enclosed space will keep a couple of extra BTUs in there with the plants.

Remove the bench & place 55 gallon drums in there place painted black it will give you the night time heat you need.

John,

since your road will flood in the same place with each rain why not dig a hole off road and let the water fill them pump it out to speed up the drying?

Good luck with the cold temps. This is our week of winter here in Texas. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I think the plastic will get me through our week of winter. One step at a time as time and resources allow (the motto for the greenhouse). Low outside temp overnight was 28° and the tent temp was 43°...got up to 78° this afternoon. Consecutive cold/cloudy days will require additional heat as suggested. That aint in the plan for this winter so it better be mild.
