saw an illegal today...

Romans 13:1–7 makes it abundantly clear that God expects us to obey the laws of the government. The only exception to this is when a law of the government forces us to disobey a command of God (Acts 5:29). Illegal immigration is the breaking of a government’s law. There is nothing in Scripture that contradicts the idea of a sovereign nation having immigration laws. Therefore, it is rebellion against God to unlawfully enter another country. Illegal immigration is a sin.

Illegal immigration is definitely a controversial issue in the United States (and some other countries) today. Some argue that the immigration laws are unfair, unjust, and even discriminatory—thus giving individuals justification to immigrate illegally. However, Romans 13:1–7 does not give any permission to violate a law just because it is perceived as unjust. Again, the issue is not the fairness of a law. The only biblical reason to violate a government’s law is if that law violates God's Word. When Paul wrote the book of Romans, he was under the authority of the Roman Empire, led by Emperor Nero. Under that reign, there were many laws that were unfair, unjust, and/or blatantly evil. Still, Paul instructed Christians to submit to the government.

Are the immigration laws of the United States unfair or unjust? Some think so, but that is not the issue. All developed countries in the world have immigration laws, some more strict than the USA’s, and some less strict, and all have to deal with illegal immigration. There is nothing in the Bible to prohibit a country from having completely open borders or to have completely closed borders. Romans 13:1–7 also gives the government the authority to punish lawbreakers. Whether the punishment is imprisonment, deportation, or even something more severe, it is within the rights of the government to determine.

How many people do you suppose are illegals in this country from everywhere. Do you know his story for a fact.

Unfortunately for him, I guess he did not run into a friendly Mexican. A person can be in trouble if they even give someone like him a bottle of water. So near Brownsville ranchers drop bottles of water along the road for them so they do not die and the ranchers do not find dead bodies.

John,
An interesting and well said commentary. You would think the reason for borders would be self evident, however some people out of ignorance and or having never traveled beyond their fenced backyard have never developed a perspective . I suggest they do some traveling, turn off CNN or pick up a history book printed before 1970. If some of these people have seen what I have seen as retired airline pilot and having traveled all over the world in almost every county I suspect they would build the wall themselves.

Mexican people out there used to let groups stay in their out building for the night to refresh and refuel. Not any more. White people previously moved over here from out there because of the illegal traffic across their land and some thieving. Be safe. For 60 years, I encountered groups at night walking down the highway to San Antonio. When they saw my lone headlights, they ran to the side and hid. This is a sanctuary city, San Antonio, and I live around illegals who take this for granted and they tell me all kinds of stories of illegals here, fighters from Central America war zones in the past, etc. Then there is false I.D. too. They believe we are all part of the human race to help each other. (I met the sweetest illegal in Del Rio who in his poverty put the money out to pay for my Cola. Then in ‘84 my car in San Antonio was stolen by illegals from Cuba and Honduras who shot at me. I am lucky to be alive.)

When I visited San Antonio and my family years ago, the nurses would tell me about illegals who got here and had a baby in the hospital and then the baby was automatically a citizen and these people had all the services and housing and I had no coverage of anything at the time and I am a citizen from the Mayflower. I saw it with the middle Eastern people in Ohio too. They got everything and left the places in filth. It was not until I went to Alaska where there were white people who helped me and I could work and also have all the citizen benefits at that time. Only bilingual people in San Antonio could get the best jobs (unless it was government work). San Antonio used to be a red neck cowboy town. Now it is over 70% Spanish bilingual. Canyon Lake was a Klan white area but the San Antonio people are now out there ready to take over as each old white dies.

He appears very healthy and prepared... military-like. I'm so sorry to see this happening out there. My sister in law had told me how brave she thought I was for traveling out to the BB region alone for several years. I don't think I feel comfortable doing that anymore.

indeed, especially when the numbers of "illegals" surpasses 20 million, it is a serious national security problem, and we don't know who they all are. thousands could be our enemies infiltrating to attack us at some point. and then there are all the chinese moving to canada directly along the us / canada border for some reason.
