Down Time

I made good use of construction down time waiting for storms to pass by clearing the front of the greenhouse.  The inside is a whole other matter I am just beginning to attend to (again).  In other news - the doves have left the nest.  89,98,63,0,B

Facebook sent me a reminder this morning.  Hard to believe on this day 7 years ago I had just finished putting 72 sheets of tin on the greenhouse roof.  At the time, I was a bit over zealous on my rain catchment calculation.  The roof gives me 1,500 gallons per inch of rain.  BTW - thanks for all the words of encouragement on getting to work on cleaning out the greenhouse.  I am almost convinced.  84,88,70,0,B

no promises...

Contemplating another long overdue project.  Not sure if I really ready want to tackle this mess as I am a bit out of practice when it comes to something so overwhelming.  Vote in the comments if you think I should.  I could use some encouragement... It would certainly make for a good time lapse video.  70,76,64,0,B

occupational therapy

Finished a small project today that has been on "the list" for a very long time.  The doors on one of my shipping containers never fully closed and latched since it arrived 7 years ago.  Somewhere along the line in its' long life the right door got tweaked out of square.  Broke out the ladder, generator, and grinder today to finally rectify the situation.  73,86,53,0,C

east end shuffled

Early morning visit yesterday from my friends Pansy and Brian Cornett.  The first time they came out they brought their newest addition - their 3 month old son Wylie.  He still holds the record for the youngest Field Lab visitor.  It has been 4 years since then so Ben was my addition to TFL.

Finished up sorting all that stuff in the east end and loaded my new HUSKY tool cabinet.  Now after all these years I finally have a proper place to put all my tools.  72,80,45,0,C

east end shuffle

The goal this weekend is to organize the east end of the greenhouse.  Picked up a few items at Home Depot to help put things in their place.  69,79,43,0,C

clean sweep

Been slowly picking away inside the greenhouse for the past month trying to clear it out.  Rick came out today to help with the final sweepdown on the first half.  Over the years, mice have managed to move 2 wheelbarrow loads of sand out from under the pavers.   51,64,32,0,C

(the sorry) state of the greenhouse

Turning my attention to the greenhouse...or the plant killing zone as it has been known as for the past year.  Got a buddy coming out next week to help clear out all the junk and death.  90,95,68,0,C

State of the Greenhouse

Most of the plants are limping along but I think I lost my banana trees.  My lone grapefruit is ready any time.  Winter greens are coming along very well (no bugs!).  46,63,37,0,C,0

undermining my authority

Well...I put it off for as long as I could.  Finally got started cleaning up inside the greenhouse.  Chucked 6 tomato plants and 2 jalapenos that just weren't producing and my 2 pear trees that died.  Took 4 hours to make sense of the west end.  Ever since I finished the pavers, some critters have been tunneling underneath an pulling "my oh so carefully leveled" sand out and depositing it on top.  Still not sure who is responsible but it's a mess and some of the pavers are lopsided now - toads, lizards, rats?  72,84,67,0,B,0

another before picture

Well...I suppose this means something is going to have to happen to this view too.
