a little melting...

It has been awhile since I have melted down any sterling silver.  Just got a local gig to turn five pieces of sterling silver flatware into seven 1 ounce ingots.  Will have to mill a few new graphite molds for the effort.  Video coming Friday.  94,100,75,0,B

Had a break in the day from prepping coins.  New friends Carl and Donna from northern Arizona stopped by for the Field Lab tour...and a chance to grab Ben's horn.

The rare three 2013 ingots will be going up on Ebay in the next 3 weeks.  First up will be the mis-stamped #1300Z...the only mistake of the limited edition 100 ingots that didn't get melted down and recast.   This 7 day auction will go live tomorrow night - I will post a link.  There will be no minimum reserve price.  The last two unclaimed ingots (#13018 and #13019) will go up for 7 day auctions on the 20th and the 27th, respectively.  85,91,66,0,B

Had a long meeting recently with the quality control department here at TFL.  It was decided that each coin that leaves the premises must have a protective coating.  After researching several possibilities, it was decided that Renaissance wax was the way to go.  How can you go wrong with a product approved by the Queen of England? 96,101,75,0,B

Slight delay in the for sale button...no one was on duty in the shipping department the last few days.  Hope to get back on schedule next week.  Wasn't gonna buy any more silver till I started getting what I had out the door, but I had a buy alert set up for a drop below $15/oz.  Snatched up another 30oz last week for the next round.

Fought with the drill press today trying to mill the coin chambers.  I knew from the get go that precision would not be a $79 drill press's strong point.  Discovered on the third attempt that even though the depth gauge was locked in, pressure on the handle was what was causing it to go too deep.  Finally figured out the right touch to get a consistent correct depth milled circle (bottom right).  82,91,72,0,B
