More computer woes ....reckon it's time to send the abused laptop to the doctor. Blogging from the netbook tonight....no photo capability as of yet from this angle.
Good labor day in spite of connection problems. Built the form for the west end of the south side for the next pour for the greenhouse perimeter. Also fabricated and installed frames with canvas to shade the morning and afternoon sun from the porch.
Well...Benita is now more popular than I am on Facebook. She just passed me today - has more fans than I have friends. I sure am proud of that old cow.

lol...hey, I did a Benita push this morning! I sent her link to about 350 people on two of my accounts...must have worked. She's worth a look at that's for sure :o)
Time for a Mac!
Looks like its time to switch to Linux operating system!
I'm with Malcolm! A Mac would definitely be a game changer for you and the type of computing you like to do. Video editing is great and way less issues if any. I have always had PC and I still have one but I never use it anymore since I got a macbook. You can by macbooks refurbished on Apple.com at decent prices. I don't know your budget though. Good luck with it. Just remember, you made Benita a star so don't let it the fame get to her head. Remind her who is in charge. You don't want her to end up on E! involved in a scandel.
ditto on chucking the pc and buying a Mac.
ditto on LINUX

There are some online photo editors that would enable you to touch up and resize photos on your netbook without installing editing software. Picnik is free. Snipshot Pro has 2-week and monthly subscriptions and it will do RAW images as well. Just a thought.
abacus
when are you making some Benita t-shirts? :O)
Wow... Mac fanboys on The Field Lab Blog. Don't forget guys that John likes to "tinker" with things. I bet he has all kinds of software on his notebook that might not be Mac compatible, and I doubt he'd be pulling a Mac apart to clean the dust-bunnies out.
What he really needs is an ash, dust and refigerant proof rugged notebook. Ideally it needs a cow lick resistant screen in case he takes it outside.
I feel ya Gavin. You might be right. He needs the best of both worlds. Good thing about Macbooks is they don't ingest dust and dirt much at all. Also, the aluminum unibody (newer) models are actually of the easiest to take apart. The aluminum actually handles heat better because it pulls it away from the inner parts. The outer shell has only 4 screws. :) The operating system has far less issues with crashing, glitching, freezing, etc. This is from personal experience. I'm also not a "Mac fan". I build computers and I know my way around well and I KNOW the differences. There aren't issues with running pc software on a mac anymore. He can always dual-boot or use programs that allow you to pretty much any windows software. He could dual-boot with OSx snow leopard, Windows XP, and Linux at the same time. He can even run them virtually inside of OSx. The times are a changin. :)
Jeremy, the other thing I really like about John is what appears to be a relatively frugle use of money.
The Macbook has a starting price of $1000 (13" screen)and if he wants something bigger he's looking at a Macbook Pro for $1800 or more. Then he would need to puchase a full copy of Windows to use his legacy programs. I guess he'd be easily looking at between $1300 and $2100. Times may be changing, however Macbook prices aren't "changin" much.
$25,000.00 my goodness John, you can rent a Gulfstream from NetJet for $8,000.00 an hour just where do they transport you
Johns Hopkins?
So build yourselve am air port
