Cat D3G - as Guy Clark says, that's what I call heavy metal! Cat Power, Baby! (I spent a number of years as a heavy equipment operator, and the sight of Cat or John Deere equipment still gets my adrenaline flowing).

Hope Mr. Toad wasn't too put out. I reckon you found him a new home via the Field Lab critter resettlement program.

Cheers, and continued success.

I remember a good friend of my father's once said, "wherever the white man has gone, he has screwed it up" which I can see the Toad is quoting.
keep the faith!

They just put a new road in behind my house along an overgrown derelict rail line. They plowed down mature trees, disturbed birds, groundhogs and raccoons among others. Now they have laid paving stones, antique style street lights and new sod. All a vanity project when a road wasn't even needed. It's sad.

But it's strange, they also created a new pool of water along the edge of the road. And I now see all kinds of animals drinking from the water. A totally new environment. This has happenned in weeks.

While John's new dam may change the way the water flows temporarily this will probably create a totally new habitat for animals. I'll be interested to see how things develop.

toad shot up close with macro lens - photo enhanced 5% saturation...those eyes were already super green...just like to bump up the overall color of my photos.

One can only wonder why God gave that toad those amazing eyes. I just hope he uses them for good instead of evil. (Unlike some of the toads I have known.)

I was kinda sad about the canyon wash being closed up but it will be interesting to see new neighbors you'll attract.

The forces of nature will try to wash the canyon out again... hell, it may not even happen in our lifetime, but if the mountains and hills were washed out, one little man-made dam won't hold it back....

beautiful pic. if you found a toad does that mean you finally got some rain? or did you dig him up?
