So far so good but did you ever consider the weight loads on the sides of the containers? From my understanding the containers strengths are from the corners. I had seen a document floating around written by FEMA discussing the details but I am no expert, just concerned - good luck.

Thanks Debbie, that was an interesting study. JW not going to bury it, but some of the stress study applies. I have wondered about the using containers ever since that Coreshe guy buried that school bus as a bunker.

I continue in awe the amount of work that John is able to get done and the drive he has. The structure for his greenhouse with the use of the containers as additional resources, ie, guest house, is so cleaver. I had never given any thought to the ability of those containers to support a roof. John knows I am sure.
I have heard that the wooden floors in containers is treated to preserve the wood from the affects of the Ocean and that it is toxic to all living things. Could this be a problem?
Hopefully the floor repels bugs, insects and small critters. But I highly doubt any harm to anything else.

The referenced engineering study on the containers says they are very strong, able to withstand tremendous wind loads and vertical loads as long as the sides are not removed. If the sides are removed, then the remaining corner posts are obviously the only strength left. Using the walls as structure is done with most construction including wood frame.
The wall looks like it was back-breaking.
