Streaming Video

It has been over 3 years since I have done any streaming video from TFL.  Dug up some of my gear today to see if everything still functioned.  The last time I was doing this, the longest amplified USB extension cable available was 75 feet.  Decided to see it that benchmark has been surpassed by now.  Low and behold I found a new one that is 150 feet long.  Just so happens that is exactly what I need to run a line out to a camera right where Ben and Javier have dinner each evening.  The new cable is due to arrive Wednesday.  Will post a link when it is active.  86,92,70,0,B

Ben throws an impressive shadow - even from altitude…
you can do a similar measuring thing using Maps
Google Maps
shadows - were you waving?

I have wondered who the red truck in your driveway belongs to. Things that make me say Hmmm...

Great! I noticed the wunderground station apparently has a webcam option also...

The red truck belongs to my friend Joe...I went with him to El Paso a couple of years ago when he bought it. https://thefieldlab.blogspot.com/2014/06/el-paso-joe.html

Also have a little IP webcam coming Wednesday for my Weather Underground station. It will just uplink a still picture that gets updated a couple times per hour.

I did enjoy your live webcam broadcasting ... especially watching little Ben grow up. Looking forward to your being on the air again. :)

Agree it will be a welcome return.
Curious why not WiFi in lieu of the cable?
What brand of WiFi camera? I think it might
make a great back up camera.

I already have a number of webcams so buying a new longer cable is the easiest and most economical option for streaming live video to the internet. No transmission issues, nothing else to plug in, and no finagling with my router setup.

This is the wifi webcam I have coming . https://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-AmbientCamHD-WeatherCam-Wunderground/dp/B00T8250UQ

It will be stationary and dedicated to uploading images to Weather Underground.
