We are the fruitful field

Church was cancelled today so I worshiped online with my friend Pastor John Wiley at http://www.rivercentral.org/   Nice to have an alternate available.  The thing I like about Pastor Wiley is that (like Bonnie Cain) the message isn't just an academic sermon - it is a message channeled directly from God.  All the churches I attended growing up, the sermons felt like lectures being read from a text book after the plate got passed to fill the coffers.  One can only truly appreciate a message that has substance.

Isaiah 32:15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.16 Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. 18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

John,

I'm so sorry you've decided to use your Field Lab site to go religious on us 1 day a week. As a secular person, and by doing this, I think your "message" about the Field Lab and that lifestyle has now taken on a new meaning........one that I was not interested in hearing. That's too bad, and I'm sure, since your posts are sensored/monitored, that this won't make it up on your site. But why why mix the two, causing potential conflicts in beliefs. If you have a desire and need to spread the word, I guess I understand where you are coming from, but as far as i'm concerned, your polluted your very interesting The Field Lab website unnecessarily, and therefore, are also causing your audience to make completely unnecessary decisions.

Good luck to you and your cause.....ops, no causes!

Mark-I am pretty sure that this blog, which I have read daily for a number of years, is about John's journey. It offers insight into the trials and tribulations of a man who has decided to live an unconventional lifestyle and is interesting to many people who neither could or would try to duplicate it. If by "secular", you mean you are an atheist, I doubt there would be very much about this blog that would appeal to you. If you are an agnostic, I wonder why you you would exclude the opportunity to learn from another based on his spiritual beliefs. If you believe in a higher power, why would it bother you how another chooses to worship? I have never heard John prostelize, have never been solicited for money, have never been directed to any path as a condition of access to the information John has to offer. If you want to share your views on secularism, there are many ways in which to do that, including writing your own blog. In the meantime, chill out, enjoy reading about John's journey and don't confuse his journey with your own. Life is too short to spend time cherry-picking casual acquaintances over things that may bother you, but do not otherwise affect you.

What the oracle said times ten. If Mark does not believe in a higher power, let him look at a flower and then duplicate it. Why is it some people can not look at what it is, and take from it what they need.

By Mark's comments, I do believe he is feeling the pointed edge of this:

"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

Though very uncomfortable for Mark & others, it is obvious your weekly bible message strikes to their heart, as the Word is supposed to do.

What a beautiful and timely message. Is there anything more appealing than a quiet resting place and peace in today's frightening, hectic world? Please let it be soon.

I would like to say that John is not talking about religion, and I fully understand why you do not like religious "stuff"; I don't either. The Creator of the universe offers you a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. You cannot understand the Spiritual until you have that relationship. Take an objective look. May God richly bless you; retired science teacher.

Living close to the land out in the big sky country it's easy to sense there is more to life than death and more to death than dust.
