First try for the prize...

Tried a pre-planned mailbox mission and knew from the start it was in trouble by "roving" to the right of the waypoint path. Figured I would go ahead and see how far I could get. Made it 2.4 kilometers before having a couple a run-ins with the right bank and ultimately rolling over. Continued on running partly in auto mode and partly in manual mode to see how far I could get before I ran out of power. Almost made it the highway before the rover pooped out at 4 kilometers. Total mission time was 80 minutes. The NiMH battery that came with the rover is 2000 mAh. I have a couple of 5200 mAh 2S lipos coming Friday. - so if I run the rover with both of the new batteries in parallel, I should have about 5 times the run time. 85,89,70,0,B

does weight become an issue?
does the rover want to move to CA by 2035?

Weight becomes an issue for battery life if it requires more amps to maintain speed. So far it is not really an issue with this rover.

How you are you going to get the mail from the box to the rover?

By solving a series of problems one step at a time. First - I have to be able to get there and come back. All the technology needed is readily available. It just depends on how much money I can afford to throw at this project - or how long it will hold my interest.
