Wow John. I sure like all the pictures and information.
Damn! Forgot yo check email follow-up.
Yikes!! I need my desert fix!
Going through a bit of withdrawal.
I just read the article about you in NYT and saw the pictures.
For a few days you will have an orgy of people looking at your place.
You are a talented, smart, brave man.
Sabine
Sabine was right! Just read about your place in NYT. Very impressed. Will send Benita a birthday card. Maybe some of my students (I am a school librarian) would like to send their wishes, to. Take care.
Hi John,
Saw your place in the NYT. I'm guessing it will lead to lots of traffic so you'll be busy but if you have the time, I have a question. Is there anywhere in your blog that you discuss swamp coolers? You seem like a practical fellow and it'd be great to get your input.
Thanks,
Tom
Enjoyed your story...vastly different than a northern Mainer! Good luck! A.
Just read the NYT article and I'm very inspired to simplify my life.
Thanks for the inspiration and aloha from Honolulu,
Emily
Ditto on the NYT article. Talk about arm chair travel, this is arm chair living! Looking forward to more vicarious escapes off the grid...ab, DC
Great post today.
Gotta love that Danny, and BBT.
Thanks for sharing that old article from 1991. It sure helps us get a more complete picture of your artistic and technical genius!
I first read the new NYT article via my FaceBook friend Joe Nick Patoski's link today. What a great surprise, and a wonderful, flattering article it is. The slide show with the article was excellent, especially #16 and #17. You're becoming quite the media darling, and for good reason!
As always, continued good luck with all your projects, and many thanks for the inspiration.
Just checked out your article in NYT. Congrats!
I'm a born and raised Texan who just moved out to Manhattan last week and I am wondering how people survive out here myself ;) I havn't had a good internet connection since I got here...
All the best in your journeys.

Hi John, I recall in 1969 when someone with more rank than I sent me to the southern desert of New Mexico from my post in SEA. I figured that I must have angered someone along the way. Then I arrived in the desert and wondered why I hadn't found it on my own. The desert has a way of capturing the imagination while demanding a lot. That was a great time in my life. I'm very happy to have found your blog. Thanks

Just driving through that part of the country makes one wonder how people survive, you are educating me to how it is done. I do love the desert but I'm not sure that I could do what you are doing. I would love to give it a try. I am enjoying your photos.
