I seem to be getting a lot of filmmakers interested in TFL lately. Here is how it played out with the last two that came to visit and film for a day that wanted to pitch something to a network. I haven't heard back from the first after I refused to sign their paperwork as presented. The second came back for a visit on Monday to try to lure me into 8 episodes for a reality TV series. They offered $20,000 for eight episodes - I said I wanted $96,000. Within hours they came back with an offer of $40,000 and I said now I wanted $180,000. I think they are going to pass. I will NOT do a reality TV show unless they pay through the nose. There is nothing real about The Field Lab when there is a film crew following me around all day. That week last year with the British film crew taught me that. I work alone and I hate reality TV... but I have my price to whore out my solitude. Does the world really need another reality series anyway? http://www.realitytvworld.com/realitytvworld/allshows.shtml
In my REAL world (just me and the boys, and Mr. Floppy, and Carl and the girls - no other humans) the wind blew the door off my shower yesterday. So far I have had 9 miss stamps on the ingots which means melting them down and starting over. Ya gotta whack it just right to get a good impression (kinda like life). Got 18 ready to do a final polish and ship tomorrow. Is yours in the group? 83,97,75,0,B,.32
UPDATE: The limited edition is sold out. THANK YOU!!

Miss-stamps would likely command a higher price just as a miss-struck minted coin does... especially when it's documented online. Offer them up for a bit more and save your self the extra labor of redoing the whole process.
I have one that will go up on Ebay eventually....a typo. Meant to do the serial number 13007 but ended up being 1300Z.
That's the perfect way to go...as long as you have enough silver for the orders you have. Let the market set the price for the "special" ones over a bit of time.
Cool, I see mine 13049.
limited edition, brother.
K.I.S.S.
you're doing great.
total inspiration.
I turn down a couple of producers a month, sometimes more, there is NO way I am going to allow some reality show to film what we do, they tend to paint off gridders as red neck, gun toting, food hording, inbred, insane, nut cases, not that there is anything wrong with that :)

Oops, forgot to subscribe...
I been following you every sence you moved out there on the web. I like every thing you do there, you are a very enteresting person.
I started following you after an episode of Texas Country Reporter that's is a true reality show. I am glad to see one man who choses principle over money
Yup, i see mine lying there. Kudos on getting rid of the maggot reality producers.
Don't sell the spoon sell the sizzle!
I like the one in your hand with Benita 'without' the stamps on the front....could you do the stamping on the back on some?
I don't see mine but sure it is in the works.
Glad to see some rain happen your way.
I ordered one but didn't get an e-mail giving me a number. I will take a miss tamp. Thank you for your blog and your ministry.
thanks...you will be notified what # when it ships next week. Numbers are given and ingots are shipped in the order payment was received.
Now a limited edition of pet rocks will round it off !
Sold Out! Wow! Ben'n'Bud are gonna be 2 very happy Longhorns!
1300Z is 13:00 Zulu or 1:00 PM local at Greenwich England. Interesting mistake. I'd be mildly curious what time it was struck if you remember.
I have one reality show which I think is a winner, "Undercover Boss". It seems to me to be a parable of our relationship with Jehovah God. He sees our deeds and accomplishments and how well we represent his word and without faith and an open heart we don't know he's watching and interacting with us. At the end, the Boss is revealed much as our loving creator will be.
Have been sick so missed knowing you were selling - feel sicker now that I know you were selling - don't like to call it work as the pieces I see are more than that. Will have to try not to miss out again. I sort of understand why you don't want to film again, but am glad you did the show with Ben or I would not have know about your perfect lifestyle. If you do another show, do it on your terms.
now that is the way to negotiate:)
1300Z has Brad Pitt written all over it... and he can afford to pony up, but he may want to visit with the clan - he does have an interest in architecture and sustainability. Seems he was just in Austin. There would be a certain beauty to see him "play" John Wells in the Benita Chronicles... Follywood can be tenacious.
Reuniting with Redford as Dick Cain - kinda the southern version of a River runs Through It.
A stretch, but odder has occurred.
World War Z
Hahaha. Want to really turn them away? Tell them you'll do it for complete editorial control and that all profits be turned over to charities promoting sustainable development! They'll run away like their hair is on fire. They're just trying to make a buck off your dreams. Screw the 'press-titutes'.
DON'T DO IT DUDE. OBSERVATION CHANGES THE RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENT. You reporting on what is goin on is one thing. Pimping out for any amount of money (or any money for that matter) kills the reality of what you are living. Just one opinion, but it will kill your experience.
I know what you mean Paisano - it took two weeks for me to get back to my normal here after the British film crew left.
John If you do a reality show on TFL I hope they pay you enough so you can move again to another peaceful place where you wont be bothered because once they air it it will be the end of it, weirdos visiting you crazy dudes wanting a piece of you and also hope you have some pepto when you see how they will portray you, there is no reality show with no drama and meanness my friend abandoned a project once she saw what the prodicers wanted to do and make her look , they are evil!!! stay in touch, Cesar Vera
