Autumnal Equinox

Really felt like the first day of Autumn today....Low this morning of 55, high of only 77, and 61 at 9PM. Hit the GrubShack for breakfast and came right home to work. Wheeled truss 4 out the back door and started welding truss 5. Broke for lunch then came back for a Field Lab tour. Today's guest was the infamous Ben in Texas - frequent blog commentator. Hellava a nice guy and it was really great to finally meet him. He came out with some folks I met when I first got started out here. Jim and his wife ( Ben help me out here....I can't remember her name) They all took off around 3PM and I went back to work. Got through all the first half and a third of the second half of truss 5. Made a point of marking the east and west horizons where the sun rises and sets on this auspicious day.

Very nice that Ben in Texas was able to come out. Can hardly wait 'till my turn. My lovely wife and I will be in Terlingua for the chili cook-off (behind the store) in November. I hope we can take the tour, also. You ought to have all those trusses up, and painted by then.

I really like the idea of marking the horizon position of the sunrise and sunset at equinox, and especially at solstice. Be sure to mark the position on Dec. 21, and again next year at summer solstice.

Congrats on all the great progress you've been making.

It would be great to have the light of the equinox shine thru a hole to spot the key to the secret beer chest!

That is a nice picture of Ben. Did he pose with Benita?

You work awfully hard John, can hardly wait to see the finish product.

John, when you get deliveries down there do you give UPS / FedEx and so on your postal address? I got my postal address this morning and since they are actually Alpine addresses it seems like that would be a problem with deliveries to the actual land.

Wow, great to see that Ben made it down to meet you! I'm glad to see that when two great Texas bloggers meet, there's no fission based explosion of Blog Energy! Hmmm...maybe there is, let's go check Ben's blog....
