Moday morning

Early edition: This just in - Dick and Bonnie Cain ( Benita's owners ) are on YouTube from their episode of Texas Country Reporter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDz6lgDiCt8

Field Lab news at the end of the day....

End of the day came with a rainbow from a shower that scooted east of me on its way south. Just more cutting today....going to keep chopping away until all the pieces are cut for the next 3 trusses. Got a link from an old high school friend that I really liked. http://space.1337arts.com/ A tethered balloon cam video is on the list for the Field Lab. I did a project years ago during one of our neighborhood arts festivals in Dumbo, (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass)Brooklyn. Tethered a helium balloon with a color micro video camera and transmitter, 200 ft. above the roof of my studio. Down on the street I had a coin operated kiosk where folks had to pay a quarter to see one minute of the live view from up above.....I made $5 that weekend...

I saw this episode when it first aired. It was this story that nudged me - made me - start the process of buying our little piece of heaven and making the move from the city to the simple life. It's a work in progress for me. Thank you for posting.

The sweet character of this couple really came through.

Benita comes from good folks. I'd still watch those horns, but give 'er a pat on the head from me.

For those interested in the weather balloon/camera project, here's a link to a website of some folks who did this a few weeks ago. Gives a bit more detail on the equipment used. I found the link in the comments of the 1337arts site.

Another Balloon Cam Project

Both projects are very cool!

I saw the video of Dick and Bonnie a few days ago on TCR's YouTube channel. Didn't realize then that they were your neighbors. They seem like great folks.

The 1337arts project is fascinating! I've been wanting to do something like that for about forty years, but, a little closer to the ground. I envisioned a steerable kite, with a remote controlled camera onboard. Nowadays, you can get an affordable digital camera with remote control capabilities. The effective range of the remote controll would be the sticking point. Time lapse, or movie mode would be an alternative.

I was thinking about a First Person Video R/C Plane, but I am near a city. You have the perfect place.

Check out FPV-Leif from Norway on Vimeo.com for some amazing vids, like flying 13km away from home, remotely(only slightly illegal).
